Speed Bump

My recovery continues on track, but over the last several weeks a speed bump developed. It was identified when the stent was removed, and has worsened since then. While not directly caused by or related to the transplant, failure to deal with it would have had consequences for the new kidney. I'll spare you the details; let's just call it a plumbing problem.

On May 28 I saw a urologist to address the issue. The encounter ended up lasting three hours and was quite uncomfortable; however, progress was made. It did take a toll on me, and I ended up spending the weekend doing as little as possible.

Today we wrapped up the intervention phase and moved into maintenance mode. So far, so good. Now to see how things go over time.

On another front, I saw the transplant doctor on May 29. I've still had swelling in my feet and ankles, so he put me on a diuretic and scheduled a sonogram of the new kidney to make sure everything is ok with it. I see him again in another month.

And for the record, tomorrow marks ten weeks.
