One year ago today I received the life-changing gift of a new kidney. [Actually, the procedure was probably wrapping up right about now on the clock.] Everything went so well then, and it continues to do so a year later. There have been some bumps for both Tom and me, and I still have restrictions due to the anti-rejection medications, but the central part of the process has gone wonderfully.
There are times when it doesn't quite seem real, and times when I don't think about it much, but there is never a time when I'm not grateful for the gift I've been given. Thank you again and again to Tom and Pattie and their family and Nancy and our family and the medical teams and our friends who made it all possible.
What a gift!
