Here we go...

I'm writing this from my infusion chair while I wait clearance to go home. I've gotten my first dose of chemo (taxotere), and since it's the first, I have to wait an hour to make sure I don't have any reactions. Everything has gone well so far, although the port site is still tender and has some bruising after its first two uses.

I'm on a healthy steroid boost for the next three days, so it will probably be after that before I discover what side effects I'll actually experience. We'll take that as it comes, as we have throughout this journey. We continue to have great peace about this whole situation, knowing we are loved and learning more and more to live in that. Instead of asking why, we are thankful for the many ways in which we are blessed, including those that have come as part of this experience. We treasure each day, whether there are new steps like today or just the routines of daily life. And we treasure each other, our family, and our friends more than ever. Our continual gratefulness goes out to all who are upholding us in this journey.

[No, the nurse didn't forget anything, just keeping the line open until I'm through the waiting period.]
