Thanksgiving

We should always be thankful for the gifts we've been given. I certainly am grateful for the gifts celebrated in this blog and many, many more in my life. Yet I sometimes get bogged down in the hassles and struggles and disappointments and paper cuts of day-to-day life. Or, for some reason I want more than I already have, even to the point of thinking I deserve it.

I don't usually dwell in those places, but when I'm in the midst of them, it shrouds the glory of the gifts I've been given and dampens my appreciation of them. So it's helpful to have reminders to break through the fog.

The Thanksgiving holiday, while not a religious observation, is certainly a holy day. It is one of those reminders of all I've been given. As I write this, I am indeed grateful for those gifts, from life and grace and forgiveness and mercy to family and friends to the peaceful view out the window and Bingley curled up in my lap.

I hope your holiday has been filled with joy and love and thankfulness, and that it has reminded you of what is most true.
