We met with the transplant nurse and doctor today for my one year checkup. The nurse was not my regular coordinator, who is on vacation, but the nurse who worked with Tom from the beginning of this process. We had a very good talk about everything that has happened and how things are going for me. She assured us that we are doing everything well and to look forward to enjoying life as I recover from this last surgery.
The doctor was also very encouraging. He made an adjustment in one of my meds but otherwise felt everything is going so well that he doesn't need to see me again for a year unless something goes wrong. That's certainly a big step forward. I will still get labs monthly to keep track of my med levels and other markers, at least for a while.
My pedometer says I'm up to about a mile per day of movement, which is significant improvement from just a week ago. Part of it is that the weather is so nice and spring is in progress, so I love to go outside and wander about the yard (slowly). And Bingley and Pippin like to join me as we scope things out. The rest of the time I spend as much time as I can on the back porch, soaking in the springtime.
Yay, life!
