Surgeon Follow-up

While we had to wait a while to see him, once we did, we got all of the time and attention we could have asked for. We discussed several things: the procedure itself, the aftermath, and my recovery. It was a thorough and reassuring discussion.

My recovery is on track. He asked to me to push my activity level a bit each day without running myself into the ground at any point. It helps that the weather has finally gotten better here, so I've been able to slowly meander about the yard for some fresh air and sunshine and exercise.

Unless something goes amiss, I won't see the surgeon again for three months. He expects I'll be doing quite well by then, but he'd like to check in, which is fine with me.

We did get some stats on the diseased kidneys. One was 10 inches long, the other 11. Together they weighed about 5 pounds, although there was also a lot of fluid loss in the process. For comparison, an average healthy human kidney is about 4 inches and 0.3 pounds. And for what it's worth, I've leveled off at about 14 pounds below my pre-surgical weight.
