Yeah, there are days and months for everything, it seems, and transplants matter everyday, not just in April. Yet this does provide a good reminder of how vital blood donations and organ donations are, and perhaps a prompt for someone to sign up at last.
Sure, not everyone will be willing or able to do what Tom has done for me, but you can still help. Following this last surgery, I had a crisis that required two units of blood. I'm very grateful that someone went to the time and trouble to donate that blood; without it, all of this may have been for naught. And donating your organs after death is a huge benefit to many people.
