Twists and Turns

Four days ago I thought I was on the recovery track that I expected. Silly me. That evening I started feeling lousy really quickly. Nothing obvious wrong, but it took me out for the next 24 hours.

I felt somewhat better the next evening and slept fairly well. Lab work the following morning got me up for a couple of hours, but I was falling asleep on the ride home and slept for three hours once there. Then awake for a couple of hours before another long nap.

Yesterday I was a little more active but still very low energy. Today I was up earlier and am doing ok. I'm hoping to move around more, albeit cautiously. Hopefully by the time the weather starts to get better in a couple of days I'll be able to do some ambling outside.

Lab results continue to be good. I haven't needed pain medication for several days now. The incisions are healing, as evidenced by the increasing itching across my abdomen. I'm slowly regaining some appetite.

I've lost over 35 pounds since I came home 9 days ago. The initial 22 or so were the added fluid pumped into me in the hospital. After that it's mostly evidence of how much those diseased kidneys weighed. Still a ways to go before things settle, but it appears every guess in the family pool underestimated the weight of those bad boys.
